Problem Statement: When Bitcoin was trending, I wanted to explore investment options in crypto currencies. At the same time, I was interested in creating an android app(as a side project) to experiment with animations, transitions, bold UI design and typography.
Design Process: The first step is listing out the user flows. For example:
- User opens the app for the first time and sees a list with prices of Bitcoin, Etherium and Litecoin.
- User clicks on a coin and sees the current price and a price graph for the last 3 months, etc.
The list is huge. Since this was a side project, the scope was drastically cut down to bare minimum MVP. It took seven days to design the first version. I showed it to my mom and few friends. They instantly liked it. That’s when I knew, the design is right. Now its time to code.
Outcome: After coding for a month, the app was finally ready and released on Play Store. I asked some of my non-tech friends to download it and tell me if they liked it. Few days later, one of them said “Bitcoin prices are crazy these days”. I responded, “do you even follow Bitcoin?”. And he said, “Yeah, see its right here, in your app.” Success!
